This is an urgent appeal from our Lebanese partner INSAN Association:
On August 4, 2020, a major explosion rocked the Beirut port, leaving more than one hundred dead and five thousand injured. An estimated three hundred thousand residents of Beirut have lost their homes due to the blast and have been forced to seek shelter elsewhere. The resulting material damages have been estimated at three to five billion US Dollars.
Facing this tragic humanitarian situation, our team on the ground has been working around the clock to respond to the emergency situation and to the most pressing needs of the people affected.
We are working tirelessly to provide emergency assistance including food, medication, hygiene and baby products to the families who have been displaced and are staying in community shelters, schools, convents, and private homes.
But we cannot continue to do this alone…
