The El Hiblu 3 Coalition has launched a new website in preparation for the 6th anniversary of Amara, Abdalla and Kader’s arrival in Malta in March 2019, and their subsequent arrest and charges.
Kopin is part of the Coalition for El Hiblu 3, together with a number of other groups and individuals, who are united in demanding that the Maltese authorities drop the charges against the three youth.
Known as El Hiblu 3, Amara, Abdalla and Kader arrived in Malta in 2019. At sea, they had helped avert an illegal pushback to Libya by acting as translators and mediators. Upon their arrival in Malta, they were detained by the authorities and placed in Malta’s maximum security adult prison. They were 15, 16 and 19 at the time.
Together with Amara, Abdalla and Kader, the Coalition insists on the right to resist pushbacks and seek refuge. We celebrate the El Hiblu 3 as defenders of human rights and insist that the charges against them be dropped.
