“COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus. This new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December 2019” (WHO, 2020).

(Malta, March 12, 2020) – As schools, childcare centres, and universities are to shut down for a week, and the Malta Employer’s Association is proposing a temporary stop on work, Kopin is taking preventive measures to contribute to limit the coronavirus diffusion and ensure the safety of its employees and beneficiaries.

WHO’s director-general officially described the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak as a pandemic. However, it is a controllable pandemic, and countries should do anything which is in their power to limit its diffusion.

Our current measures at Kopin are:

  • Lockdown: our office will be closed for at least 14 days, starting Friday, March 13 – this is a preventive measure, our staff will be working from home, and we can be easily reached via [email protected] or staff’s email addresses.
  • All public events will be postponed – this is to safeguard our team, partners, and beneficiaries, and to contribute to the wellbeing of Malta’s society.

For the moment, we plan on enforcing such measures for the upcoming two weeks, however, we will follow any directive that might be released in the coming days by the government and health authorities.

Stay safe, everything is going to be okay!
